Understanding racism in America.  I grew up around blacks, Spanish and white people and learned from an early age to treat everyone the same.  I learned that there are good and bad people of all nationalities and that it is important to judge people, Like Martin Luther King said, “on the content of their character and not the color of their skin.”  After all, I pride myself on being an intelligent, educated, fair and rational human being.   What is concerning to me, is not that there are racists in America because there are rapists and murderers too.  What is concerning is that there are people who choose to take a passive position on the subject of extreme hate that leads to murder?  I suspect that the rapist or murderer will think what they doing is okay, but I don’t understand what is wrong with the rest of us.

What would make us sit around and see acts of terrible violence, atrocities happening on our streets and feel unbothered or unconcerned by these horrific events?  Everyone has a right to their opinion, how be it wrong or skewed but, can we all agree that the final act of murder is wrong?  Does America no longer have a soul?  Are we part of an enigma with no answer in sight?  Do we know longer have a conscious and lack moral aptitude?  Violence will only cause more violence, and it will eventually affect someone that we care about.  Will we become a nation of vipers attacking whom we please?  Will we have to arm ourselves to the max and walk through the streets in packs with machine guns?  Is this the model that the greatest country in the world think it should aspire to?  There are countries where this is the norm.  Kill or be killed, are we sure this is the type of country we want to become?  Have we learned nothing from our past?  America better take inventory of its position.  There will always be a reaction for every action.  I think it’s time we start taking the right action before we miss that opportunity.  Let freedom reign.
